March 15, the anniversary of the passing of Rasoul Malaqlipour, a prominent filmmaker of the Sacred Defense Cinema, is an opportunity to review his lasting legacy in the cinema of resistance.

Dr. Jalal Ghafari, Secretary of the 18th International Resistance Film Festival, stated in an interview that Rasoul Malaqlipour was one of the pioneers and most influential figures of the Sacred Defense Cinema, and said: The International Resistance Film Festival, with the aim of preserving the dignity and artistic values ​​of this late director, has established a special award titled “Rasoul’s Badge” that is awarded every few years to a prominent filmmaker in the field of the Sacred Defense and Resistance.

He added: This late director played an unparalleled role in the formation of resistance cinema with films such as “Flight at Night”, “Father’s Farm”, “Bellamy to the Coast” and “Journey to Chazabeh”.

According to Dr. Ghafari, the festival has established the special award “Rasoul Badge” to preserve and honor the artistic legacy of Rasoul Molaghipour. This award is given to creative filmmakers in the field of “Islamic Revolution, Sacred Defense, and Resistance.”

He said: “To date, this award has been given to two filmmakers. In the 17th edition of the festival, Seyyed Mohammad Pishnemazi won in the animation category and Nematollah Sargolzaei won in the best short documentary category.”

The secretary of the 18th International Resistance Film Festival emphasized: “This festival is an opportunity to once again pay attention to the legacy of filmmakers such as Rasoul Molaghipour.”

He added: “We believe that the festival can show the right path to the new generation of filmmakers by showcasing and analyzing the works of this filmmaker. Also, supporting films that narrate the spirit of resistance with a human and realistic perspective is one of the ways to preserve this cinematic style.”
