The ninth edition of the Resistance Film Festival took place from December 8 to 11, 2002, and was directed by Ali Asghar Gholamrezaei.

Gholamrezaei was known as a researcher and journalist, and he also had a history of working for the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, which led to his appointment as the president of the IRIB University years later. Of course, it is not unreasonable to say that he was perhaps not a very suitable candidate for this position.

Two important events are noteworthy in this edition; one is the removal of the “International” section again, which apparently shows that the gentlemen of that era of the festival were not very happy with the international section. As stated in previous reports, the fifth edition of the Resistance Film Festival included works from non-Iranian cinema in the festival, but they were immediately removed in the next edition.

In the previous period (the eighth period), international cinema was again opened up, and although it was non-competitive, a number of works from international cinema were still present at the Resistance Festival, which was not the case in the ninth period, and the international section of the Resistance Festival was again on the horizon!

The second event was the change in the time of the festival and the reduction in its duration; previous periods were held around mid-October, and most of them lasted 5 to 6 days, but the ninth season of the festival was postponed to December, and the festival was held in 3 days.

Because other than this section, the rest of the sections and events of this period were the same as we witnessed in previous periods of the festival and other festivals.
